Senior Designer

The Senior Designer (SD) is a member of the Jems Communications production department. The SD uses his/her experience in design to creatively execute the editorial vision for Jems, the EMS, Insider Newsletter, and EMS Manager & Supervisor newsletter. The SD also supports production manager and production assistant as well as the advertising department by designing classified ads, assisting in building display ads, and contacting ad clients as needed. The SD also contributes in a design and production capacity for other editorial projects as they arise. The SD also ensures that all Macintosh files are complete and prepared for print publication. Qualifications: Ability to function and contribute in a team environment; ability to creatively execute advanced design and production decisions for a variety of media. Minimum of 3 years related design/production experience in magazine publishing or prepress. Demonstrated proficiency in Quark, PhotoShop and Illustrator. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with in-house and outside staff. AA degree or better in graphic design or commensurate experience.
