Manage and grow medical publishing business; collaborate with development editors and marketing team to develop competitive strategic publishing plans for new and mature medical information products. Acquire books and media, develop appropriate time and events schedules and budgets; develop marketing plans; track budgets; release budgets; release books as scheduled to production. Revise old editions, as appropriate, approaching authors and submitting new proposals to ensure the publishing cycle is maintained. Develop and maintain relationships within the medical community, maintaining an in-depth understanding of the issues, trends and research within markets, current and emerging opinion leaders, teachers and clinicians; regularly attend medical meetings with the purpose of participation in the events of the meeting; develop network in medical community. Develop and maintain a knowledge base of trends in information acquisition and usage in the medical community, with particular interest in the acquisition and integration of technology in medical education and clinical services. Plan and conduct market-based research to develop knowledge and insight into the knowledge, attitudes and behavior of markets. Participate directly in the long range planning and editorial needs assessment in assigned audience markets. Train and manage staff to ensure appropriate support of publishing programs, project acquisition, manuscript development and release and production. College degree required and editorial experience preferred. Must be computer proficient.
